According to Sky Italia, Inter Milan are interested in a swap deal for Tanguy Ndombele. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has emerged as the latest target for the Italian giants, who are considering three big-name players for a potential swap deal. Three list includes Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and Milan Skriniar, with the latter being the likeliest choice.
In this article, however, we will discuss who could be the best option Jose Mourinho should go for, among these three Inter Milan superstars.
Marcelo Brozovic
Brozovic has been a revelation for Inter under the leadership of Antonio Conte. The Croatian international has emerged as a key figure in midfield, providing the much-needed defensive support in front of the backline. His ability to read the game has also come in handy for Inter.
Brozovic could be a welcome addition to Tottenham, who have lacked depth in central midfield. The 27-year-old can be an upgrade over the likes of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko. In fact, he can be the ideal Mousa Dembele replacement Spurs have never had.
Indeed, the Inter Milan star can create a solid midfield partnership alongside someone like Giovani Lo Celso. His composure and work-ethic should combine well with the Argentine’s technical prowess, ultimately adding more dimension to the Spurs midfield.
Milan Skriniar
Milan Skriniar is regarded as one of the best defenders in Italian football. The Slovakian international has been an ever-present figure in the Inter Milan backline over the past couple of years and under Conte, he has built a formidable defensive partnership alongside Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni, helping his club maintain the best defensive record in the league this season.
At Tottenham, Skriniar could be an ideal replacement for Jan Vertonghen. The 25-year-old’s ability to play out from the back, combined with his composure and experience at the highest level of football could even make him an upgrade over Davinson Sanchez.
All in all, Skriniar would make an excellent partner to Toby Alderweireld, thus adding the much needed defensive solidity to the Spurs backline that has lacked quality this season.
Ivan Perisic
Perisic is the only player on this list who is unlikely to be valued in the first-team next season. Set to return from his loan spell at Bayern Munich this summer, the Croatian has lost his place in the side following the arrival of Conte. He has also struggled to impress in the Bundesliga.
The addition of Perisic to Tottenham would unnecessarily add depth into the side, especially with Mourinho already having the likes of Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Ryan Sessegnon at his disposal. The Lilywhites could instead prefer a striker, who can provide back up to Harry Kane.
Verdict
At the moment, Skriniar does seem like the best bet for Tottenham, who are in imminent need of reform in the defensive unit. The Slovakian international, in that regard, should be able to inject that little bit of quality that should help the Premier League side to get back on the right track. However, Brozovic won’t be a bad option either.
