Manchester City faced off against Watford at Vicarage Road earlier this evening hoping to pick up maximum points on the road. The Citizens made a dominant start to the game and raced to a two-goal lead within the first 40 minutes via a brace from Raheem Sterling.
The second half was more of the same with the away side moving the ball with pace and intensity while the Hornets tried to keep the scoreline down. Phil Foden scored Man City’s third goal in the 63rd minute before Aymeric Laporte put the icing on the cake with his headed goal just four minutes later. The contest ended with the Mancunian giants securing a dominant 4-0 win away at Hertfordshire.
Let’s take a look at how each Man City player fared during the match against the Hornets.
GK: Ederson – 7/10
The Brazilian goalie was hardly tested during the game and kept a comfortable clean sheet at the back.
RB: Kyle Walker – 7.5/10
The English full-back organised his defence well and was a decent outlet for the Citizens down the right flank.
CB: Eric Garcia – 7/10
He began the match a bit slow but did enough to restrict the Hornets from scoring during the 90 minutes.
CB: Aymeric Laporte – 8/10
Laporte managed to keep Watford’s Troy Deeney at bay and capped off his team’s victory with a fine goal in the second half.
LB: Joao Cancelo – 7/10
He did well to cope with the threat of Ismaïla Sarr and looked relatively at ease as a makeshift left-back.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne – 7/10
The Belgian international created some decent chances in the final third and has got an assist to show for his efforts.
CM: Rodri – 8/10
Rodri controlled the game well from midfield and put on a classy show at the centre of the park.
CM: Bernardo Silva – 7/10
The Portuguese playmaker produced a tireless performance in midfield and helped his side secure the win with the clean sheet intact.
RW: Phil Foden – 7.5/10
The English youngster started the game a bit slow but put in a brilliant goal-scoring performance in the second half.
ST: Gabriel Jesus – 7/10
The Brazilian striker worked his socks off while leading the charge down the middle. He was exciting to watch but had nothing to show for his efforts.
LW: Raheem Sterling – 9/10
The English speedster was always there in the right place at the right time and ended up scoring a quick-fire brace inside the first 45 minutes. It was another man-of-the-match worthy performance from Sterling today.
Substitutes:
RW: Riyad Mahrez – 6/10
The Algerian winger brought some fresh energy down the right flank.
LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko – 6.5/10
He whipped in some inviting crosses into the opposition penalty box.
CB: John Stones – 6/10
He did enough to see out the win.
