Manchester City will face off against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday evening hoping to build on their 5-0 win over Newcastle United in their last match. The Citizens have lost their previous two away games in the Premier League, so Pep Guardiola will expect his players to respond positively when they visit the American Express Community Stadium this weekend.
The Mancunian outfit will lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva expected to be named in Guardiola’s starting XI for this clash away at the south coast of England.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Brighton
Defence
Ederson will once again feature in between the sticks for the visitors after he secured a comfortable clean sheet versus the Magpies in midweek. Eric Garcia might get the nod to resume his centre-back partnership with Aymeric Laporte at the heart of the Man City defence. The defensive duo will have to figure out a way to keep Brighton’s Neal Maupay in check during the game.
Kyle Walker should return at right-back after being rested for a half versus Newcastle. Oleksandr Zinchenko is likely to continue on the other side as the left-back. Guardiola would want both his full-backs to get forward and cause a few problems for the Seagulls defenders out on the wide areas.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne might make up the Citizens midfield as they look to dominate proceedings at the centre of the park so that they get the freedom to create some promising chances in the attacking third. De Bruyne has been in red-hot form for Man City in recent matches, so he will fancy his chances of scoring or assisting a goal versus Graham Potter’s men on Saturday.
Despite producing a man-of-the-match winning performance versus the Magpies in midweek, David Silva might be given a rest on the bench alongside Phil Foden as they await their opportunity to come on and make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
Raheem Sterling should return on the left flank as he tries to cause a few headaches for the opposition using his pace and trickery in the final third. Bernardo Silva will hope to do the same on the other side as the right-winger. Gabriel Jesus found the back of the net last night which should keep him in good spirits heading into this showdown at the Amex Stadium this weekend.
Riyad Mahrez will be available for selection on Guardiola’s bench.
