Arsenal will entertain Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening hoping to pick up a positive result at home. The Gunners suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Therefore, the North London giants would be desperate to produce a much-improved performance versus the new Premier League champions in midweek.
Mikel Arteta will stick with his favoured 3-4-3 formation and is expected to bring Bukayo Saka back for this upcoming clash at the English capital.
3-4-3 Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face Liverpool
Defence
Emiliano Martínez should keep his place in goal for the Gunners despite shipping in two goals versus Spurs in the North London derby yesterday. Arteta will once again opt for a back three of Shkodran Mustafi, David Luiz, Sead Kolasinac for this home encounter versus the Reds.
All three players were collectively disappointing in their last league outing, so they will have to produce a far better defensive display if Arsenal are to have any chance of claiming something from this midweek clash.
Midfield
Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos will anchor the midfield for the Gunners while both Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin operate as the wing-backs. They will all have to figure out a way to stop Liverpool from dominating possession in midfield. Tierney will have a tough battle on his hands while up against Mohamed Salah, who will be desperate to score as he is currently fighting for the golden boot award.
Lucas Torreira and Cedric Soares will be available for selection on Arteta’s bench and might come on to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be a nailed-on starter down the left flank while Bukayo Saka returns to feature on the other side as a right-sided wide player. Alexandre Lacazette will once again get the responsibility to lead the charge for the London giants down the middle following his goal-scoring performance versus Spurs last weekend.
Nicolas Pepe and Reiss Nelson might have to be content with a place on the bench as they await their opportunity to shine as the impact substitutes if Arteta decides to call upon their services.
