Manchester United will clash heads with Aston Villa at Villa Park on Thursday evening hoping to stretch their four-game winning run across all competitions. The Red Devils managed to secure a dominant 5-2 win over Bournemouth last weekend, so they will be quietly confident heading into this match away at the West Midlands.
Victor Lindelof is a slight doubt for this game. Otherwise, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has no fresh injury concerns to cope with and will be expected to opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation in midweek.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Aston Villa
Defence
David De Gea will continue to feature in between the sticks for the Mancunian giants despite shipping in two poor goals versus the Cherries last weekend. Victor Lindelof is a doubt but should recover in time to operate alongside Harry Maguire at the centre of the Man United backline as they look to keep Aston Villa forward Keinan Davis quiet during the game on Thursday.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka should get the nod to start at right-back while Luke Shaw gets another chance to produce an impressive performance on the other side as the left-back. Solskjaer will instruct both his full-backs to maintain a solid shape and push high up the pitch so that they can orchestrate some decent openings for the front players in the opposition half.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba will once again play together as the holding midfielders as they focus on putting in another solid display at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood will look to link up with each other while operating just ahead of them as part of Solskjaer’s attack. Both Fernandes and Greenwood have been amongst the goals in recent weeks, so we can expect them to do most of the damage in the final third.
Fred and Scott McTominay will have to settle for a place on the bench but might get a chance to make an impact if Solskjaer decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Anthony Martial scored a brilliant goal in his last league start. Hence, the talented French striker will be desperate to maintain his excellent form by producing another productive performance versus the Villans later this week. Both Odion Ighalo and Daniel James will be available for selection on Solskjaer’s bench and might come on if Man United require a goal in the second half.
