Manchester United will face off against Southampton at Old Trafford on Monday night hoping to stretch their four-match winning run in the Premier League. The Red Devils will head into this contest after securing a comfortable 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in midweek.
The Saints are also in a decent run of form as they are unbeaten in their last three league matches, so they could prove to be a tough test for the Mancunian giants next week. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will probably stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and might name an unchanged team for this clash at home.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton
Defence
David De Gea will retain his spot in between the sticks for the Red Devils after earning a clean sheet versus the Villans yesterday. Victor Lindelof should be fit enough to lineup alongside Harry Maguire at the heart of Solskjaer’s defence as they look to keep an in-form Danny Ings quiet during the game on Monday.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka should be guaranteed a start at right-back while Luke Shaw hopes to produce another industrious performance on the other side as the left-back. Solskjaer will ask both his full-backs to get forward and provide some decent service for the front players in the attacking third.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba put in an impressive display as the holding midfielders in midweek so they will focus on producing a similar performance when the Saints visit Old Trafford at the start of next week. The attack-minded trio of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood will play just ahead of them as part of the Man United attack. Both Fernandes and Greenwood are in a rich vein of form so they will fancy their chances of scoring versus the Saints defence that has only kept one clean sheet in their past four outings.
Fred and Scott McTominay will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they await their opportunity to impress in the second half if Solskjaer decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Anthony Martial failed to score in midweek so the Frenchman will be desperate to return to his goal-scoring ways at the Theatre of Dreams on Monday. He is expected to lead the line for the Red Devils up top while Odion Ighalo provides cover on the bench.
