Manchester City will face off against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening hoping to pick up another three points at home. The Citizens have won two successive matches in the Premier League with a 5-0 scoreline, so their confidence will be sky-high heading into this midweek clash versus the Cherries.
Pep Guardiola will probably stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and might make a couple of changes to his first-team for this upcoming showdown against Eddie Howe’s men.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Bournemouth
Defence
Ederson will once again lineup in goal for the Citizens after securing back-to-back clean sheets versus Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion respectively. Eric Garcia might get another chance to impress alongside Aymeric Laporte at the heart of Guardiola’s defence. The centre-back pair will have to find a way to deal with the pace of Bournemouth’s Joshua King and Callum Wilson during the game.
Kyle Walker should keep his spot at right-back following another industrious display from him yesterday. Oleksandr Zinchenko will get the nod to feature as the left-back while Benjamin Mendy provides cover for him on the bench. Guardiola would want both his full-backs to get forward at every chance they can get so that they can offer some decent service to the front players from the wide areas.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan was not fully fit last night, but he should be ready in time to feature alongside Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne at the centre of the park. The talented midfield trio will focus on dominating possession so that they can orchestrate a few clean-cut goal-scoring opportunities in the final third.
David Silva, Phil Foden and Fernandinho will be available for selection on the Man City bench but might come to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Raheem Sterling had managed to bag a hattrick versus the Seagulls yesterday which will keep him in high spirits ahead of this midweek encounter at the Etihad. The English winger will once again operate on the left flank while Bernardo Silva gets pushed up to play on the other side as the right-winger. Gabriel Jesus has now scored in back-to-back matches which will do his confidence a world of good. The Brazilian striker will get the responsibility to lead the line for the Mancunian giants down the middle.
Riyad Mahrez might have to wait on the bench for his chance to shine as an impact substitute if Guardiola decides to call upon his services.
