Tottenham Hotspur will look to continue their push for a Europa League place when they host Leicester City on Sunday. The Lilywhites are coming on the back of two back to back wins over Arsenal and Newcastle United respectively and could potentially overtake Wolves by the end of Matchday 37 if results do favour them.
Predicted Tottenham Hotspur Lineup Vs Leicester City
Defence
Serge Aurier played the full ninety minutes despite having his brother killed a few days ago. He has been cleared for the rest of the campaign. It should open up an excellent possibility for new signing Gedson Fernandez to make a rare start.
The Portuguese starlet is being trained to play at right-back due to Spurs’ lack of depth in that position, and this could be an excellent opportunity for him to showcase his talents. There will be no changes on the opposite flank, however, with Ben Davies pretty much a guaranteed starter.
Jose Mourinho could also persist with the defensive combination of Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez, both of who have done well in recent games. Eric Dier remains out due to suspension while Juan Foyth and Japhet Tanganga are sidelined, leaving Jan Vertonghen as the only alternative.
Hugo Lloris is another player likely to retain his place in the side as the Frenchman searches for his sixth clean sheet of the campaign.
Midfield
Mourinho has still remained hesitant in giving Tanguy Ndombele the nod ahead of Moussa Sissoko, and he’s likely to do the same this time as well, especially now that the Frenchman has been ruled out for the remaining matches due to an injury. That means Sissoko is more than expected to form the double-pivot alongside Harry Winks.
These two have combined well in recent weeks, although Sissoko’s lack of technical prowess makes him a liability at times. Mourinho does have the option of starting with Gedson, but he will be needed in that right-back slot. As for Giovani Lo Celso, he will operate as a number ten.
Attack
Mourinho could be tempted to make one rotation, with Lucas Moura, who picked up a slight knock against Newcastle United, likely to make way for Steven Bergwijn. Son Heung-Min, on the other hand, is a guaranteed starter at left-wing.
Son, Lo Celso and Bergwijn will be tasked with the responsibility of providing the creative essence in the Tottenham Hotspur attack that will be led by Harry Kane. The English international scored two goals against Newcastle United, and despite picking up a late knock, he should be fit to start this weekend.
