According to a recent report by Il Napolista (translated by Sport Witness), Everton have launched an improved offer for Napoli midfielder Allan ahead of the summer transfer window. The same source has also revealed that the Toffees have already made an improved bid worth around €38m for the Brazilian midfield ace after seeing their initial offer of around €25m be turned down by the Naples outfit this summer.
Allan’s Inconsistent Season At Naples
The 29-year-old has experienced a difficult campaign at the San Paolo Stadium after struggling to discover a run of consistency with his performances at the heart of Gennaro Gattuso’s midfield. He has registered two goals and one assist in 32 appearances for the Naples outfit this term across multiple competitions which highlight his lacklustre form at Naples over the past ten months.
However, Allan deserves some credit for averaging 2.6 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 0.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in the Serie A and the UEFA Champions League this season. He has also been quite tidy with his ball-distribution in midfield based on his pass completion rate of 87.2% in league football so far (stats via whoscored).
The Napoli midfielder has also earned eight senior caps for the Brazilian national team but is still waiting to score his first goal for his country. If Allan can seal a summer move to Goodison Park, then he would finally get the platform to showcase his worth at the highest level and secure a few more caps for his nation in the coming years.
What Will The Brazilian Midfield Ace Bring To Merseyside?
Allan can use his pace and agility to make some driving runs from midfield. He is also not shy of getting stuck in with a few well-timed tackles so that he can earn possession back for his team. The Brazilian is often quick to react to the danger and can pull off some crucial last-ditch clearances inside his half.
A midfield enforcer of Allan’s experience and skill set will be a welcome acquisition for the Toffees before the new campaign kicks off later this year. He will not only add some much-needed bite and steel to Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield but also improve the overall depth of his squad at Goodison Park.
Plus, Allan will offer some healthy competition for the likes of Andre Gomes, Tom Davies, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fabian Delph in the race to secure a regular starting berth at Merseyside next season. At 29, Allan has still got a few years left in him to play at a high level which Everton could look to capitalise on in the coming seasons. All in all, the Brazilian sensation will be a decent signing for the Toffees as he would help them challenge for some major trophies and close the gap to the top six teams in the Premier League table.
