Frank Lampard’s Chelsea side regained their spot in the top four of the Premier League table tonight after a comfortable 3-0 victory against lowly Watford. The Blues got off to a strong start thanks to some good work in midfield from Mason Mount and Ross Barkley. Olivier Giroud opened the scoring in the first half with an expert finish past Ben Foster, and they went on to double their lead before half-time thanks to a clinical Willian penalty. The London club continued to pile on the pressure all through the fixture, but the third goal of the game from Ross Barkley came only in second-half stoppage time.
Here Are The Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Watford:
Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Watford
Kepa Arrizabalaga – 7
The Spaniard was largely untroubled in between the sticks for Chelsea tonight, as the Watford attackers weren’t able to pose a considerable enough threat. Made some decent stops, though.
Reece James – 7
The youngster did a solid defensive job down the right flank tonight as he kept the Watford threat to a minimum. Had an extremely advanced starting position and whipped some good balls into the box.
Andreas Christensen – 7
The Dane put in a much more composed display when compared to the one against West Ham. Moved the ball around with confidence and stepped forward when required to initiate an attack.
Kurt Zouma – 8
The big Frenchman was rock solid at the back for Lampard’s side today, as he eliminated the physical prowess of Deeney from the game. Assured and thorough with the ball at his feet.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7.5
The Spanish skipper didn’t allow Ismaila Sarr any room in the wide areas to work his magic and ensured that the Hornets man remained a spectator for most of the game. Played in some good crosses too.
N’Golo Kante – 7
Kante was the first to react to every second ball in the heart of midfield tonight. Protected the back-line and linked up play with his quick passing and sharp movement. Came off injured though.
Ross Barkley – 8
The Englishman played some good forward passes throughout the tie and even produced the ball that led to the Chelsea opener. Showed great composure to control and finish in the late stages.
Mason Mount – 7.5
Lampard’s trusted midfield commander was deployed in a more conservative role to start with, but he displayed his box-to-box qualities quite brilliantly tonight. Needs to be more decisive on the ball.
Willian – 7.5
The Brazilian speedster keeps proving his worth to this Chelsea side every time he plays. Slotted the penalty away with composure and made some excellent forward charges in the second half too.
Olivier Giroud – 7.5
The French international striker did well to hold the ball up and link up play all through the fixture. Showed fantastic quality in the final third to slot away what was an important goal for Chelsea.
Christian Pulisic – 7.5
The American wasn’t at his explosive best tonight but did display the occasional glimpse of brilliance. Looks like a willing dribbler but a deep Watford back-line didn’t allow him too much running room.
