Manchester United will entertain Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon hoping to close the gap to Chelsea in the Premier League table with a dominant win at home. The Red Devils are in a rich vein of form after emerging victorious in each of their last three matches across all competitions. The Mancunian giants will come into this clash on the back of a comfortable 3-0 win away at Brighton and Hove Albion in midweek.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will stick to his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation and could be inclined to name an unchanged side for this weekend’s meeting with the Cherries.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Bournemouth
Defence
David De Gea will retain his place in goal for the Red Devils after securing a comfortable clean sheet versus the Seagulls in midweek. Victor Lindelof will play alongside Harry Maguire at the heart of Solskjaer’s defence as they look to keep Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke in check this weekend.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be a guaranteed starter at right-back while Luke Shaw hopes to produce another solid display on the other side as the left-back. Solskjaer will ask both his full-backs to maintain a high line and push high up the field so that they can offer adequate support to Anthony Martial up top.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba will anchor the Man United midfield on Saturday afternoon while focussing on putting in another impressive performance at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood will operate just ahead of them as part of the Red Devils attack. Both Fernandes and Greenwood produced a brilliant goal-scoring display versus the Seagulls in midweek which should give both of them a lot of confidence heading into this weekend’s showdown against the Cherries.
Fred and Scott McTominay will be available for selection on the bench but might come on to give a good account of themselves if Solskjaer decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Anthony Martial failed to find the back of the net in his last league start. Therefore, we can expect him to be desperate to get his name back on the scoresheet when he laces up to lead the line for Man United up top. However, the French striker can expect to face a physical battle as he will go up against Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake and Steve Cook this weekend.
Both Odion Ighalo and Daniel James will have to settle for a spot on the bench.
