West Ham United will clash heads with Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday evening hoping to bounce back from their disappointing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Hammers are in dire need of a positive result in midweek so that they get themselves out of relegation trouble heading into the business end of this campaign.
David Moyes will stick with a 4-2-3-1 formation but could be inclined to make a couple of changes to his first-team for this highly anticipated London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Lukasz Fabianski will keep his spot in between the sticks for the Hammers despite shipping in a couple of goals against Wolves in his last league outing. Fabian Balbuena might get the mod to start alongside Issa Diop at the heart of Moyes’ backline. Both centre-backs will look to keep things tidy at the back while up against Spurs’ Harry Kane, who is expected to be West Ham’s primary headache on Tuesday.
Jeremy Ngakia could retain his spot at right-back while Aaron Cresswell laces up on the other side as the left-back. Moyes will instruct both his full-backs to keep a solid shape in the defensive end of the field to limit Tottenham’s goal-scoring chances in midweek. Ryan Fredericks will once again be available for selection on the bench.
Midfield
Declan Rice could anchor the midfield along with Tomas Soucek as they look to work hard and provide adequate protection for the backline. The dynamic duo will also need to stay strong and win some of the 50-50 midfield battles so that they can set-up the front players on the counter.
The talented trio of Pablo Fornals, Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko could operate just ahead of them as part of the Hammers attack. All three midfielders will have to interchange passes amongst each other and cook up some decent chances for Michail Antonio in the final third.
Attack
Michail Antonio will once again get the responsibility to lead the line for West Ham up top. He will have to find a way to make himself useful by causing a few problems for the Spurs defenders. Sebastien Haller is a slight doubt for this game in midweek. Hence, Moyes will have no choice but to stick with Antonio if Haller fails to recover in time for this upcoming derby at North London.
