French champions Paris Saint-Germain have done great things in the recent years, from winning the league on consecutive occasions to roping in players like Neymar and Mbappe. They have also produced some great talents in their academy and integrated them into the first team. One such player is Tanguy Kouassi, who has emerged as a target for clubs across Europe.
Le10sport reveals that Real Madrid have held talks with the French side for the youngster, who is regarded as an exceptional talent. However, the report also says that Florentino Pérez has negated the chance of roping in the starlet from the Paris based club.
Who is Tanguy Kouassi?
The teenager switched different clubs before finally joining PSG in 2016. Since then he has played at various youth levels of the side, only to be promoted to the first team in 2019. This season he has featured in six Ligue 1 matches, scoring two goals for his side. Overall the France U-18 star has made 13 appearances across all competitions and found the back of the net thrice.
In this little time, he has already displayed the immense talent that he possesses and made the onlookers believe that he could be the next big thing coming out of France. Primarily a centre back, Kouassi can also ply his trade as a defensive midfielder. Known for using his physicality, Kouassi is extremely comfortable in neutralising aerial threats. With him at the heart of the defence, the opposition teams would find it hard to score from set-piece opportunities.
The 17-year-old has also shown an exceptional understanding of the game and substantial composure. In modern-day football, the managers want their defenders to be the starting point of the build-up play, and in that regard, Kouassi would be a decent option. Despite having outstanding defensive qualities, he has a way of moving forward with the ball and at a club like Real Madrid, that could be helpful.
Should Real Madrid go for him?
The contract of the Frenchman is expiring this summer, giving rise to the speculations. Real Madrid, presently, cannot boast of a very deep defensive lineup and thus it is apparent that they would need reinforcements. Sergio Ramos is reaching the final stages of his illustrious career while Eder Militao has also had a rather rough debut season. This has made it apparent that Zidane needs quality defenders in his squad soon.
In this situation, Tanguy Kouassi could have been the answer for the club. Not only would he have provided adequate back-up to the existing Los Blancos players, but he could also be seen as a long term partner of Varane. It remains a mystery as to what has made Perez give his refutation in proceeding with this deal.
