Bayern Munich will be looking to move one step closer towards securing the Bundesliga title when they lock horns with Bayer Leverkusen at Bay Arena on Saturday. The Bavarians are comfortably leading the league with a seven-point advantage over Borussia Dortmund. However, things are bound to get tricky against an in-form Leverkusen side, who are pushing for a top-four finish.
Predicted Bayern Munich Lineup Vs Bayer Leverkusen
Defence
Hansi Flick will continue to miss out on the services of Niklas Sule, although the German international has returned to light training. Also, both Jerome Boateng and Lucas Hernandez are doubts heading into this game, although we do expect the former to make the matchday lineup.
He is set to partner David Alaba, at the heart of Bayern’s four-man backline. It will be interesting to see how these two defenders deal with the offensive firepower of Leverkusen.
Elsewhere, Benjamin Pavard and Alphonso Davies are guaranteed starter in the fullback slots. Davies, in particular, is one to watch out for as he locks horns with the pacy attackers of Leverkusen. In fact, his performance could very well dictate Bayern’s fortune, not only in defence but also in attack.
Manuel Neuer, meanwhile, is set to retain his place in between the sticks, hoping to preserve a third consecutive clean sheet.
Midfield
There are uncertainties over the fitness of Thiago Alcantara heading into this game. The Spaniard is likely to miss out this weekend, joining Corentin Tolisso on the sidelines. Their absence could pave the way for Leon Goretzka to continue at double-pivot, alongside Joshua Kimmich.
These two players are in sublime form at the moment. However, Flick could also fancy Mickael Cuisance, whose performances in these final stages of the season could dictate his future at Bayern, which stands uncertain at the moment.
Attack
Thomas Muller is a guaranteed starter in the number ten role, just in behind the main striker. The German international has been one of the most creative players in Europe this season, and his creativity could be critical in breaching the solid Leverkusen backline.
Philippe Coutinho is out on the sidelines with an injury, but Ivan Perisic could make a substitute appearance. In any case, Muller will be partnered by the wide offensive duo of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, with Robert Lewandowski spearheading the Bayern Munich attack.
