Callum McFadden (Football CFB) has risen to fame quickly in the podcasting world and the quality of guests on offer is something which never fails to astonish me. Upon hearing that he just had Didier Agathe on a podcast, I could not resist asking Callum to give me the scoop and allow me to hear the recording before it goes live on his platforms.
He, being the nice guy he always is, obliged. Having heard the recording, I felt compelled to write a small portion which I feel would interest the fans of The 4th Official. The podcast has not been officially uploaded yet so you as a viewer are getting the first look. Football CFB will upload this podcast at 5 pm today, so please tune in to what is an engrossing conversation.
Also, if you want to learn more about Callum, please do read his interview with us where he talks about how he got into podcasting and became one of the most popular podcasters in the UK in such a short time.
Didier Agathe was a downright humble man throughout the interview as he spoke about currently being outside the UK due to the COVID 19 pandemic and how insignificant football is right now in light of the situation we are currently in. Talking about the difficulty in understanding Scottish accent at first when he arrived from Montpellier, Agathe was upfront about the struggles he had to go through to make it as a footballer.
Speaking to Football CFB about his time at Celtic, Agathe talked about how he made the initial impression, “Martin (Martin O’Neill) thought I was a striker when he took me. So after a pre-season game, Jackie McNamara was injured, so he put me on the right side and my first game, I was the MOTM. But again, I was like a kid, very happy to be there and enjoy life.
When Didier Agathe was asked how he felt when he found out Celtic wanted him, ”When Martin O’Neill called me after the game to say he wanted me to sign for Celtic, I could not believe it. My life totally changed but it if you know where you come from…. it is very important to know where you come from. I was very very proud after one year to play for Celtic and again we played Champions League games and final in Sevilla and that was unbelievable.”
It was a really interesting listen overall and this is just a snippet of all the stories told by Agathe at Football CFB. You should definitely check their website after 5 pm to listen to the entire thing.
