Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolverhampton Wanderers side resumed their Premier League season in great style after beating West Ham United by a 2-0 scoreline. The fixture was a tight affair right from the get-go, and it took two moments of Wolves magic late in the second half to tip the tie. The substitutions that Nuno made completely changed the complexion of the entire match, and goals from Raul Jimenez and Pedro Neto, thanks to the sheer brilliance of Adama Traore, turned the fixture in their favour.
Here Are The Wolverhampton Wanderers Player Ratings Vs West Ham United
Wolverhampton Wanderers Player Ratings Vs West Ham United
Rui Patricio – 6.5
The Portuguese stalwart was helped by the fact that the West Ham attackers missed a flurry of clear cut chances. Distributed the ball efficiently and made some crucial saves.
Romain Saiss – 7.5
The versatile Moroccan put in a solid display at the back for the most part but did make a couple of unnecessary challenges that could’ve cost them the game early on. Sublime otherwise.
Conor Coady – 7
The big centre-half was a massive figure in the middle of the defence for the team from Black Country, as he dominated most of the aerial balls that were played into the Wolves box.
Willy Boly – 8
The Frenchman was a rock at the back for Wolves tonight as he made multiple vital tackles and interceptions. Worked hard covering off the ball, and looked extremely comfortable when on it.
Matt Doherty – 7
The speedster had a great game back on the right flank despite having a couple of questionable moments. Played in some sensational balls and picked up the assist for the second goal.
Leander Dendoncker – 6
The midfielder did a decent enough job in the core of the team and pinged impressive balls out all around the park. Wasn’t necessarily in the best of touch and was substituted in the second half.
Ruben Neves – 7
Couldn’t affect the tie quite as much as he would’ve liked but had multiple glimpses of brilliance all through the night. Moved the ball well and worked hard tracking back as well.
Joao Moutinho – 7
Wasn’t overly impactful in the first period but came alive as the game wore on. Although he didn’t play a direct part in the goals, his influence in the middle of the park was undeniable.
Jonny Otto – 7
The Spaniard worked hard getting up and down the pitch and did a solid defensive job down his flank. Made some good overlapping runs and delivered a few promising crosses too.
Raul Jimenez – 7
The Mexican wasn’t able to have his usual influence in the attack, partly due to the lack of service in the first half. Despite his struggles, stepped up when required to break the deadlock late on.
Diogo Jota – 6.5
The Spaniard wasted a flurry of great passing opportunities in the first-half where an earlier release could’ve led to the opener. Did well under pressure and created some good chances.
