As reported by Daily Mail, Tottenham target Achraf Hakimi is set to return to Real Madrid, according to his agent, Alejandro Camano. The Real Madrid right-back is currently playing at Borussia Dortmund on loan, but his agent has confirmed that he will be returning to Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.
“There is no such offer. We will return to Madrid.”: Camano told Mundo Deportivo, amid rumours linking Hakimi with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur while Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked.
Achraf Hakimi: One of the best right-backs in Europe?
After moving to Borussia Dortmund, Hakimi has successfully established himself as a vital cog in Lucien Favre’s tactical setup. He has been entirely consistent with his performances, helping the Black and Yellows pose a strong challenge to German giants Bayern Munich for the title. In fact, Hakimi is arguably one of the best right-backs in Europe right now.
What has particularly impressed the onlookers about the Real Madrid star is his incredible productivity. He has been involved in as many as 28 goals in just 67 competitive matches for Die Schwarzgelb. This season, in particular, Hakimi’s four goals and ten assists have seen Dortmund establish themselves as a potential title challenger.
Indeed, the Moroccan’s sheer pace, as well as his technical prowess, makes him a tailor-made fit in Favre’s system that often requires these two traits. It is also fair to consider the fact that Hakimi has gelled with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Axel Witsel, making it easier for him to settle into the Bundesliga.
Tottenham target Achraf Hakimi is set to return to Real Madrid: Why Jose must make a move
Hakimi is equipped with all the qualities that could help Tottenham Hotspur get rid of their defensive problems. Especially in the right-back slot, the Lilywhites have struggled with creativity and offensive support, following the departure of Kieran Trippier.
Hakimi, in that regard, can not only provide support to the likes of Lucas Moura and Giovani Lo Celso but can also offer a lot of threat to the opposition himself, thanks to his pace. Also, his ability to play out from the back using smart passing triangles should drastically improve Spurs’ build-up play.
However, what makes Hakimi such an appealing target for Tottenham is his productivity. The fact that the Moroccan is capable of scoring goals and creating chances could drastically take the burden off of players like Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.
That being said, Hakimi is nothing more than just a fantasy signing for Mourinho at the moment. The Premier League giants are unlikely to compete in the Champions League, which is combined with their lack of financial power, thus providing minimal prospect for the player himself.
