According to Leggo, Tottenham are pushing for a summer move for Nicolo Zaniolo. The AS Roma midfielder has been linked with a move away from the club, with Juventus, in particular, showing keen interest. However, the Italian giants are joined by both Spurs and Manchester United in the pursuit of Zaniolo, who could reportedly cost more than €60 million.
Nicolo Zaniolo’s disastrous 2019/20 campaign
Zaniolo started the 2019/20 campaign as one of Italy’s most exciting talents. He was almost destined to make a name for himself and become a household name in European football. However, he has been extremely unfortunate throughout the campaign, despite scoring four goals in 18 matches.
Roma’s injury crisis in the attacking department forced manager Paulo Fonseca to utilise Zaniolo in various roles. It hindered the Italian’s progress and established a lack of identity. As a result, the playmaker struggled with form throughout the first phase of the campaign.
Moreover, when Zaniolo did return to full form, he picked up an ACL injury that ruled him out for the rest of the campaign. He is, therefore, one of the few players who have benefitted from the suspension of football throughout Europe due to Coronavirus.
