According to a recent tweet by transfer expert Nicolo Schira, Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is said to be the subject of interest for European heavyweights Inter Milan and Real Madrid. The tweet suggests that both the clubs have made contact with the player’s agent regarding a potential summer move, asking for information on his current situation at the Etihad Stadium. Although Serie A side Napoli were also said to be involved in the equation, Schira went on to dismiss talk of a move to Naples for ‘El Kun’.
European Giants Want Sergio Aguero: What Makes The Argentine An Attractive Option?
When Manchester City signed Argentine striker Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid all those years ago, few would’ve expected him to hit the heights that he’s actually achieved over the seasons. Now 31, the forward is an indisputable fan-favourite, not just in the blue side of Manchester, but in the entirety of the Premier League. His exploits over the years have been so unbelievable that Aguero could well be described as the most successful striker of the Premier League era.
The City ace is arguably at his best when given the space and time required to run in behind but take nothing away from the fact that Aguero can make a goal out of the unlikeliest of situations. The historic stoppage-time winner he scored against QPR a few years ago is now etched into the English top-flight’s history books. The striker can be deadly in one on one situations, while his diminutive frame doesn’t stop him from being a sheer physical force up-front either.
The one thing that makes Aguero stand out from the rest of the Premier League strikers is the Argentine’s ability to change the mood of an entire fixture with a single moment of brilliance. There have been so many instances where commentators have branded the forward to be having a poor day in front of goal, only for him to then turn up in stoppage time with two quick-fire strikes to earn his team an unlikely three points. This unpredictable nature is what makes Aguero such a generational talent.
European Giants Want Sergio Aguero: What Is City’s Current Striker Situation?
Pep Guardiola’s side currently boast two recognised centre-forwards in their ranks – both of them endlessly competing for the starting role. This competition is arguably what makes Sergio Aguero and Brazilian Starlet Gabriel Jesus, consistently perform at such a high level. While Aguero’s sale would mean a lot more playing time for Jesus, the Brazilian youthfulness and lack of experience in the big time could come back to haunt the gaffer in the long run.
Should Manchester City Cash In On Sergio Aguero This Summer?
Although the Premier League title race has been over for a while now, the Citizens are still very much involved in the battle for the Champions League. With Aguero now 31, the number of years that the Argentine has remaining at the highest level could be quite limited too.
Aguero is the prime example of a typical Premier League striker, and permitting a man of such a hefty reputation to depart in any situation, will have to be considered questionable. City must do everything in their power to keep Aguero at the Etihad next season, even if a call does come from European giants Real Madrid.
