Paul Ince has recently mentioned two facts, one which would please the United supporters and the other not as much. In an interview with Paddy Power (as cited by Goal), the former Red Devils man has stated that if there is an iota of chance for Man United to land Harry Kane, then they should pounce upon it. And even if they are successful in convincing Spurs to let go of their prized possession, the player himself can choose to overlook Old Trafford as a possible destination.
Ince said, “Don’t get me wrong, if, and it’s a big if, United can get Kane, and he fancies the move, surely you’re going to go for him. You’d be absolutely daft not to. If you can get him, then you have to go and get him, but I can’t see it being the case. Spurs fans won’t like to hear me say this either, but sometimes as a player you simply need a new challenge. Whether that’s at Old Trafford, or in my opinion, more likely abroad, who knows?
“However if he’s on the market then if you’ve got to at least have a go at getting him, if you’re United. You’re taking a completely complete, proven player. He’s only going to get better and better. He’s a guarantee.”
We couldn’t agree more with the words of Ince, and here we will take a look at why he is right on every level.
Why Manchester United should go for Kane?
Harry Kane is one of the biggest names out there, and any club would want him in their ranks, making it a no-brainer for United to chase him. For a striker who has scored 136 goals in the Premier League from 198 games, it is all but natural for the biggest names in club football to line up for his signature. He would make any side better, and at this moment, Kane is perhaps suited to lead the attack of the best squads of Europe.
The Englishman’s precision, accuracy and exactness are unseen in the forwards of today’s generation. Seeing his style of play and his traditional approach, it can be said that they don’t make strikers like Harry Kane nowadays. His finishing and his power-packed shots are what has made him such a lethal forward, and Manchester United would be blessed to have a man like him in the squad. Although Rashford has done well for himself recently, with Kane in the side, the Mancunian youth product could be shifted to the left hand without any bother, and that would make Solskjær’s team a menace to the opposition defenders.
Why could Kane ditch Old Trafford?
For the last few seasons, Spurs have been better placed than Man United in the league and other elite competitions. It should not be dismissed that the London club reached the final of the Champions League last term, a feat that seems distant for the Manchester team at the moment.
Kane is 26 right now and at the peak of his career. Therefore, a move to the red side of Manchester may not look like a lucrative deal for the Englishman, and he may choose to wait for greener pastures before making a career decision.
