When Real Madrid set their eyes on a player, more often than not, they force their way into getting him. This time they have set their sights on Kylian Mbappé, and the club are working overtime to cut a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for the World Cup winner.
Amid all these, one former Barcelona star has validated the move of Mbappé to Real Madrid. Cesc Fàbregas has stated recently stated in an interview to RTVE (as indicated by Le10sport) that Mbappé’s style would perfect fit the club and that he would be able to integrate himself into the team perfectly.
Why Real Madrid need the player?
After the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, the Spanish club have not been the same force in the attack. Even the signature of Eden Hazard from Chelsea has not been able to do the trick, with the Belgian having a mixed season at the Spanish capital. Gareth Bale is way past his prime, and the club wants to ship him out for good. Same can be said about Luka Jovic whose big-money move a year ago has failed to impress the manager.
Things are not too different with Karim Benzema as well, who is 32 at the moment and should be able to make room for younger talents in a few years. If there is any club at the moment that needs attacking reinforcement, it is Real Madrid and who better than Kylian Mbappé for the 13 times Champions League winner.
What would the player add?
Kylian Mbappé is highly regarded as the future of football after the likes of Messi and Ronaldo. A centre forward by trade, Mbappé’s versatility is his forte. He can be deployed on the wings, from where he can cut inside smoothly and test the goalkeeper. His creativity, dribbling, acceleration and pace is for everyone to see. A potent goalscorer, Mbappé has hit the net 64 times in 76 matches in Ligue 1 for his club. The 21-year old could be the long term attacking solution of Madrid and take the club steps ahead of their competitors.
What should the club do?
Real Madrid, on their behalf, should take advice from the former Arsenal star and pursue the French forward harder. It may not be easy to convince PSG to sell Mbappé, but the fact that the player wants a move to Real Madrid will help their cause. Zidane, being a French legend himself, would have potentially the biggest future superstar at his disposal and should be able to guide him and the club to glory.
