According to a recent report by Sky Sports, Premier League bottom-dwellers Aston Villa are said to be among a host of clubs currently keeping tabs on Werder Bremen’s Kosovo international winger Milot Rashica. The report suggests that although European giants Liverpool have cooled their interest in the forward, the likes of Aston Villa, Brighton, West Ham United and Wolves are all said to be keen on acquiring the 23-year-old’s services.
With Aston Villa interested in Milot Rashica, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched for the fans to begin dreaming about the potential wide-duo of Rashica and their superstar Englishman Jack Grealish next season. Although Liverpool were also involved in the battle for his signature, their January acquisition of Japanese ace Takumi Minamino – a player with a fairly similar skill-set to Rashica, seemed to completely cool the Reds’ substantial interest in the Bundesliga man.
What Would Milot Rashica Add To This Aston Villa Side?
The 23-year-old winger’s preferred position would be sticking to the touch-line on the left-hand flank, but it’s worth conceding that he offers various attributes that can be essential in the Premier League. For starters, the Werder Bremen man is a willing runner off the ball, which means that he often presents a variety of passing opportunities to his teammates, all in the space of a single attacking move. The Kosovo international picked up a decent tally of seven goals and four assists from his 20 outings this term.
The Bundesliga ace likes to get past defenders, and although he doesn’t bring out the tricks and flicks all too often, there’s no need to question him dribbling ability either. With that said though, it’s worth realising that Rashica’s most significant attribute is his presence of mind while on the pitch.
The winger just seems to be aware of all the things that are going on around him, and often plays in the perfect pass or cross in the correct situation. Deceptively strong for a man of his stature, Rashica’s abilities make him well-suited to the fast-paced action of Premier League football.
Do Aston Villa Need To Sign More Wingers?
Considering that the Villans’ main man – Jack Grealish, isn’t actually a winger by position, Dean Smith has only three recognised wide players in his arsenal, and they are Anwar El Ghazi, Trezeguet and Jota. While the former has proven his quality on occasions, the inconsistency displayed by the latter two will be a concern for Smith going into next season. Even with the signing of a proper goalscorer in Mbwana Samatta, Villa haven’t managed to generate enough midfield creativity – an attribute that Rashica excels at.
Aston Villa Interested In Milot Rashica: Should Dean Smith Go For This Transfer?
Villa’s struggles in the league this season have been no secret, and despite the presence of a strong roster of defenders at their disposal, the going certainly hasn’t been easy for the team from Birmingham. Jack Grealish has been a lone shining light in the Aston Villa squad this term, and his influence in all the good things they’ve done this season simply cannot be underplayed. Signing Milot Rashica would essentially be like adding another Jack Grealish into the side, and every Villa fan in the world, will without a moment’s hesitation, vouch for that move.
