Bayern Munich have been in great form since the arrival of Hansi Flick. It has given them a massive boost in their quest for a potential transitional period, and the Bavarians will surely look to use that to undergo a swift overhaul in the upcoming summer transfer window.
That could include the departure of a host of players. And in this article, we will discuss three Bayern Munich stars who could leave the club this summer.
Javi Martinez
Javi Martinez has been one of the few players who has struggled under Flick. The current Bayern Munich coach does not exactly favour him. Injuries haven’t been kind either, with a muscle problem notably keeping him out for some time. As a result, he has featured in just eight minutes of league football in this calendar year.
At the age 31, Martinez clearly doesn’t have a future at Bayern, who are likely to replace him in both central defence, and in holding midfield with a younger alternative. And with his contract expiring at the end of next season, the Bavarians could offload him in the summer.
Corentin Tolisso
Corentin Tolisso has had a difficult time at Bayern Munich, since joining from Olympique Lyonnais in 2017. He has failed to outshine Thiago Alcantara and has also struggled with a host of fitness problems throughout his career in the Bundesliga.
These obstructions have stifled the player’s progress. And given the recent emergence of Joshua Kimmich in holding midfield, Flick will likely want to get rid of Tolisso in an attempt to free out some space in the midfield department.
Unlike other players on this list, the Frenchman is likely to attract a sizeable fee given the fact that he still has time on his side. Hence, Bayern will be keen on recouping most of the €41 million they had spent back in 2017.
Jerome Boateng
Boateng has been linked with a move to Premier League for quite some time, with Arsenal being one of the clubs reportedly interested in his services.
The German international, however, has enjoyed a good spell of form under Flick. He has built a formidable defensive partnership alongside Alaba, helping Bayern Munich rediscover their form and earn a seven-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
That being said, it is unlikely to deter the club’s decision of offloading Boateng this summer, especially with the defender’s contract expiring at the end of next season. Also, key defenders like Lucas Hernandez and Niklas Sule are more than expected to be fully fit by the start of the upcoming campaign. Hence, the German’s days at Bayern are numbered.
