In an interview to ESPN, Manchester City starlet Jack Harrison indicated that he is ready to commit his future to Leeds United. The winger joined the Whites in a season-long loan deal last summer and has played a key role in helping the club emerge as the best team in the Championship. He is now ready to join Leeds permanently, though Marcelo Bielsa’s side will have to fork out £8 million.
Harrison had this to say about returning to Leeds United, “I’m on loan, but you see how much it means to even myself, to the staff at the cub even some of the kitchen staff, all of the fans, all the players the owner. You see how much it means to each one of them. I want to do everything I can, and hopefully, I could still be with them next season. It’s hard to describe, if you’re here every week you understand how much it means to them.”
Jack Harrison’s success at Leeds
Harrison has been one of the star performers for a Leeds United side that has raised a lot of eyebrows this season. The winger’s tireless running on the flanks, coupled with his remarkable work-rate has helped him integrate to Bielsa’s demanding style of football.
Not only that, but Harrison has also impressed the onlookers with his productivity. In 37 league matches, the attacker has scored five goals while registering seven assists, meaning he has been involved in more than one-fifth of Leeds United’s total number of goals in the Championship.
Additionally, Harrison has attempted and completed more dribbles than any other Leeds United player. His tally of 76 key passes is also highest in the team and sixth highest in the league. Further impressive statistics include the fact that the 23-year-old has almost attempted two tackles per game, which is remarkable for any wide attacker.
Why Bielsa must sign Harrison permanently
With Leeds United pretty much on course to gaining direct entry to the Premier League next season, the presence of hard-working attackers like Harrison could be critical. As mentioned earlier, the Manchester City youngster has already integrated himself into Bielsa’s tactical setup, which usually takes a bit of time.
Moreover, one simply cannot overlook Harrison’s contributions in the attacking department this season. His combination with Helder Costa and Patrick Bamford has worked well, and it would be imperative for the club to retain the understanding of this trio next season as well.
Another key factor is that Harrison, for a fee of just £8 million, will be no less than a bargain for the Whites if we are to consider his massive influence in the team this season. Therefore, the Championship side should undoubtedly secure the services of this Manchester City starlet this summer as they prepare for life in the English top flight.
