Celtic might have dropped points against Livingston recently but Rangers losing to Hamilton meant that it was one more point towards the 9th title in a row for Lennon and his men. The Hoops will host St. Mirren at the weekend, and they will look to capitalise on Rangers’ poor run.
St. Mirren are coming in this game on the back of a goalless draw against St. Johnstone. Celtic have already played St. Mirren twice this season, and they have won by 2-0 and 2-1. Lennon’s men have struggled a bit in the last few games, but they have managed to get the right result more often than not.
Team News: Michael Johnston is a long term absentee at the moment. Jozo Simunovic is also expected to miss out after he failed to make the matchday squad against Livingston. Olivier Ntcham is also struggling with a calf injury, and he remains a doubt. Hatem Abd Elhamed was finally able to make his comeback as he earned a spot on the bench in the last game.
3-5-2 Celtic Predicted Lineup Vs St. Mirren
Formation (3-5-2)
Defence
Fraser Forster continues to be the prefered man in goal for Lennon. He should start again. The three at the back system has worked well in domestic games, and Lennon is likely to stick with it still. Nir Bitton will begin as the right-sided centre back. Christopher Jullien should start in the heart of the defence. Kristoffer Ajer will complete the back three.
Midfield
Greg Taylor has slowly managed to establish himself in the first team, and he is likely to start in the left wing-back role. Callum McGregor is expected to feature in central midfield from the left side. Scott Brown’s job will be to mop up any dangers and form a base of attack in the middle.
Tom Rogic might be rewarded with a start after he salvaged a point in the last game. He could feature in midfield. James Forrest doesn’t usually get the freedom of a winger in the right wing-back role, but the Scotsman has shown that he can work hard for his team when required. He should get a start again.
Attack
Leigh Griffiths could return to the lineup in place of Mohamed Elyounoussi. Griffiths has managed to bring his Celtic career back on track since the winter break. Odsonne Edouard is undoubtedly going to start as the leading man upfront for the Hoops.
