According to a recent report by the Daily Star, Premier League strugglers Aston Villa have been warned by ESPN FC reporter Craig Burley that, ‘Jack Grealish is going to go somewhere’. Burley further went on to say, “he can do a little bit of everything, he’s got a bit of creativeness about him as well, he can see a pass. United are in the hunt for players like that. I think it’s a big possibility and I think he’ll go.”
The journalist then expressed just how impressed he’s been with Grealish’s performances for Villa this season, describing him as a strong player who could go on to achieve big things. He claimed that the youngster is likely to be a part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad that travels to the Euro 2020, and that the Villa man would be a good fit as a backup option. The ESPN reporter then conceded though that his display against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final wasn’t as impactful as some would’ve hoped for.
What Makes Jack Grealish Such An Attractive Prospect?
The former Notts County loanee was a product of the Aston Villa youth system, and he’s never really had a permanent transfer away from Villa Park at any point in his career. Despite this, the number of clubs that have expressed interest in the youngster’s signature showcases just how talented the Englishman actually is.
Having come through the ranks at Villa, the midfielder is comfortable with the pace of the English game, and would probably take a lesser time to settle than international imports.
More importantly, the sheer quality that he offers in the middle of the park is another point of attraction. Despite arguably being surrounded by players well below his standards at Villa Park, the youngster has consistently earned the team points with excellent individual work. At 24, the Englishman is already the skipper of this Villa team, further highlighting the leadership and maturity that he would add to a squad.
Why Aston Villa Cannot Afford To Let Him Leave?
The dribbler has featured in 25 league fixtures this season and has come up with a decent return of seven goals and six assists. This is despite the fact that the Villans have produced just a little over 30 goals all campaign. The academy graduate averages sensational stats that aren’t replicated by anyone else in the side. With at least two shots and three key passes per game, the youngster is Villa’s best player by a considerable distance, and the fact that he gets fouled at least five times every tie comes as a bonus.
Aston Villa’s display of commitment towards the cause at hand began with acquiring Tanzanian international striker Mbwana Samatta. Villa seem to have finally found a potent goalscorer who can deliver consistently in the Premier League. Selling their main creative source on the back of acquiring such a clinical striker will surely be the last thing on Villa fans’ minds, but at the end of the day, when a club like Manchester United come calling, there’s little that can be done.
