Manchester United will travel to the East Midlands to face off against Derby County at Pride Park on Thursday night. The Red Devils will be hoping to pick up a win on the road so that they can book a place in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. The Mancunian outfit will come into this contest on the back of a hard-fought 1-1 draw versus Everton in the Premier League which stretched their unbeaten run to eight games on all fronts.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a lot of changes to his starting XI for this cup match against the Rams.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup Vs Derby County
Defence
Sergio Romero could get the nod to start in goal as Solskjaer looks to offer David De Gea some rest in midweek. The defensive duo of Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof will operate at the heart of the Man United defence as they look to restrict the Rams from scoring on Thursday night.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be rested in this cup game so we can expect to see Diogo Dalot line up in the right-back position. Luke Shaw will continue to feature on the other side as the left-back. Solskjaer will instruct both his full-backs to make some adventurous runs out on the wide areas so that they can provide adequate support to the front players.
Brandon Williams will have to settle for a spot on the bench but might come to make an impact if required.
Midfield
Both Scott McTominay and Fred will assume the duties of the holding midfielders as they look to fight for every loose possession at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard and Mason Greenwood will play just ahead of them as part of the Red Devils attack.
Bruno Fernandes is expected to be named on the bench following his goal-scoring performance at Goodison Park last weekend. The Portuguese playmaker could be introduced as an impact substitute if Man United need a goal late in the game. Nemanja Matic will also have to be content with a spot on the bench.
Attack
Anthony Martial will once again focus on leading the line for the Mancunian giants up top. The French striker needs to find some consistency in terms of his goal-scoring if he wants to help his side compete across all competitions in the coming weeks.
Odion Ighalo could get a chance to come off the bench and influence the game if Solskjaer calls upon his services.
