According to a recent report by Calciomercato, West Ham United will lock horns with Leicester City, Everton and AS Roma in pursuit of AZ Alkmaar wide player Oussama Idrissi this summer. It is believed that the Hammers have asked for more information on the Eredivisie attacker as David Moyes looks to strengthen his attacking options at the end of this campaign (via Calciomercato).
Idrissi’s Rapid Rise In The Dutch Top-Flight
The 23-year-old has been on fire for Alkmaar this season after putting in several goal-scoring displays for them down the left flank. He has scored 16 goals in 36 matches for the Dutch outfit this term across all competitions. The winger has struck up a brilliant partnership with Myron Boadu in the attacking third of the pitch.
Idrissi has managed to keep his side in the Eredivisie title race by being prolific in the final third. He has often been Alkmaar’s most productive player after averaging 2.7 shots, 2.1 key passes and 3.4 dribbles per game for them this season (stats via whoscored). If he can produce the same numbers in the Premier League, then there is no doubt that he will be a grand success if he chooses to move to England someday.
What Will The Morrocan Wing Wizard Add To Moyes’ Team?
Idrissi has a terrific turn of pace that allows him to complete some dangerous dribbles out on the wide areas. He is always a willing runner with the ball and often packs a lot of power with his shots at goal. The Morrocan winger has also proven his worth as a playmaker at the AFAS Stadium after crafting six assists this season.
West Ham need more creativity and goal-threat from their wide players with Felipe Anderson, Robert Snodgrass and Andriy Yarmolenko struggling to find consistency in terms of their performances in this campaign. The jury is still out on Jarrod Bowen, who arrived from Hull City at the back end of last month.
Will Idrissi Be A Good Choice For The East London Outfit?
With some high-profile fixtures coming up against Manchester City and Liverpool, the Hammers will have a real battle on their hands in their fight for survival in the coming weeks. With some added width, Moyes could get the best of Sebastien Haller who has failed to be prolific when leading the charge up top.
A winger of Idrissi’s skill set will breathe new life to the West Ham attack, which might be enough for them to compete at a high level in the next campaign.
