According to Sassuolo News, Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs monitoring the development of Edin Julardzija. The Dinamo Zagreb youngster is courted by a host of other top clubs across Europe including AS Roma, Inter, Chelsea and Arsenal. At the same time, Sassuolo, too, have an excellent chance of signing the youngster in the summer.
Who is Edin Julardzija?
A product of the Dinamo Zagreb youth academy, Julardzija has been playing for the competitive youth sides since 2016. His impressive performances in the youth leagues helped him earn a promotion to the Din. Zagreb U19 side in the summer of 2018, at the age of 17.
The youngster hasn’t yet managed to play for the senior side, though he did play once for the reserve side during the 2018/19 campaign.
Julardzija is an attacking midfielder by trade. He is primarily known for his ability to create chances, which stems from his excellent vision in the final third. Another key feature of the 19-year-old’s gameplay is his dribbling prowess.
Indeed, the young Croatian can nestle through tight spaces thanks to his quick feet and intelligent movements. That means he is often an effective cog in half-spaces – making him a well-rounded playmaker.
Is Julardzija ready for the next step?
As mentioned earlier, Julardzija is yet to feature in a single game for Dinamo Zagreb first-team. He still plays for the U19 squad, where he has often featured in the UEFA Youth competitions.
Hence, there is this sense of inexperience that could make it difficult for him to take the next step in his career, especially when it comes to a potential move to England. The Premier League is known for its high-paced nature of football, which is combined with severe scrutiny from media and fans alike.
Therefore, it would perhaps be wiser for Julardzija to stay put at Dinamo Zagreb for now. He has an excellent chance of being promoted to the first-team following the departure of Dani Olmo to RB Leipzig in January. And upon his potential promotion to the first-team, he could then have an excellent platform to showcase his talents.
Do Tottenham really need Julardzija?
From Tottenham Hotspur’s perspective, a move for Julardzija in the summer would seem strange. The Lilywhites did lose Christian Eriksen in January, but Giovani Lo Celso has done a good job so far while they also have Dele Alli. Not to mention, the club signed Jack Clarke last summer, though he is on a loan spell at QPR at the moment.
Jose Mourinho, therefore, should shift his attention towards signing a new defender or a striker who can serve as an alternative for Harry Kane.
