According to a report by Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News, Jack Grealish would ‘relish’ a chance to move to Manchester United. According to this report, his friends have also indicated that the Aston Villa captain would be willing to move to the Manchester heavyweights in the summer.
Grealish on the back of his strong performances this season has been linked with almost all the top clubs. Even Barcelona and Real Madrid were linked with him not too long ago, and that is a testament to his quality.
Dean Smith on transfer speculations
Dean Smith recently talked about the various speculations, and he was asked whether he has had a talk with Grealish about it. The manager said (Birmingham Mail), ”No, not at all, One week it’s Man United the other week it’s Barca or Real Madrid. There’s always going to be speculation about top players. He is a top player but, thankfully, the window is shut, and we don’t have to talk about it anymore.”
Can Villa keep Grealish for long?
Smith seems relaxed, and he obviously can’t dwell much on his captain’s future right now. Villa are in a tight battle to stay in the Premier League as they are currently one point above the relegation zone. Grealish is a boyhood Villa fan. He had already gone down to the Championship before and helped them back up to the Premier League again. However, if something like that were to happen again, then Grealish is too good a player now to play in the second tier. Hence, we believe that a move will very likely be on the cards if Villa gets relegated.
Will a move to Manchester United be a good one for Jack Grealish?
Even if Villa stay up, they will find it hard to keep hold of their star man. However, it would be slightly surprising if Grealish goes on to choose Manchester United. As mentioned, the Englishman is being linked with almost all the heavyweight English clubs including Premier League holders Manchester City.
If Grealish decides to leave Villa Park, then he would surely want to move to a club that can offer him Champions League football (my personal belief is that City will get the ban stayed at a minimum before it comes into effect). Hence, if United fail to get to the coveted European competition, then we believe that they would find it hard to lure Grealish.
Obviously, they can turn his head with a substantial financial offer, but if Grealish is smart, then he would probably look to move somewhere else. With a similar player like Bruno Fernandes coming to United, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils would spend big on Grealish or not.
We think that the latest update where it is claimed that Grealish will ‘relish’ the chance to move to United is done to add fire to the current speculations and is just a bid to unsettle him.
