Liverpool will entertain West Ham United at Anfield on Monday night hoping to continue their relentless push towards the Premier League with a win. The Reds will come into this clash on the back of a 1-0 defeat away at Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. Hence, we can expect the Merseyside outfit to raise their performance levels considerably for this home game versus the Hammers.
Jurgen Klopp will opt for a 4-3-3 formation and will be forced to make one change to his first-team for the visit of David Moyes’ side at the start of next week.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup Vs West Ham United
Defence
Alisson Becker will line up in goal for the Merseyside giants after conceding just one goal in his past 11 starts in the Premier League. Joe Gomez will once again operate alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the centre of the Liverpool defence. The defensive duo has enjoyed an excellent run of form in league football but looked a bit lacklustre versus Atletico Madrid in midweek.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will get the nod to play in the right-back position while Andrew Robertson features on the other side as the left-back. Klopp will instruct both his full-backs to press high up the pitch so that they can win the ball back quickly and launch some inviting crosses into the Hammers penalty box from the wide areas.
The Reds are not used to conceding goals at Anfield so it will be a tough ask for Moyes’ men to find the back of the net on Monday.
Midfield
Jordan Henderson suffered a hamstring injury in midweek which could keep him sidelined for three weeks. Therefore, Klopp will be forced to make a change in his midfield with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita under consideration for a spot alongside the usual suspects, Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho. We expect Keita to get a start as he is fresh and has the potential to cause a lot of problems for the Hammers defenders.
Henderson will be a big miss on Monday, but the European champions have shown in the past that they have enough squad depth to cope with any major injuries.
Attack
The Liverpool frontline will be comprised of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah up top. All three forwards failed to get a shot in on target versus Diego Simeone’s side on Tuesday night, so they will be desperate to return to their goal-scoring ways when West Ham come to town on Monday.
Divock Origi will be available on the bench and might come on to influence the game if required.
