Rangers got out of jail in their last league game against Hibernian as they fought hard to get all three points. Gerrard’s men cannot afford to drop more points as Celtic have a 7 point advantage at the top of the table having played a game more. The Gers will travel to Rugby Park to take on Kilmarnock next.
Kilmarnock have managed two back to back wins in the league, and they would look to put in another good display against the Gers. The game could once again be a tough one for Rangers to crack if they don’t get an early goal. They have found it hard to break down teams which sit back and defend in numbers. Gerrard’s men are coming in this game on the back of a 4-1 win against Hamilton in the Scottish Cup tie.
Team News: Borna Barisic is doubtful for this game after he failed to complete the full 90 minutes against Hamilton. Veteran striker Jermain Defoe is also ruled out of this encounter. Centre back Filip Helander is going to be unavailable again as he is yet to recover from the injury he suffered in December last year. Ryan Jack is still on the treatment table.
4-3-3 Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Kilmarnock
Formation (4-3-3)
Defence
Allan McGregor is set to keep his place in goal. Nikola Katic could return to the lineup after George Edmundson started the last two games in defence. The Croatian is likely to be partnered by Connor Goldson who is the mainstay at the back for Gerrard. Andy Halliday is expected to deputise in place of Barisic at left-back. James Tavernier will likely continue in his typical right fullback role.
Midfield
Steven Davis is likely to return to the team after he featured only as a substitute in the Cup game. He should start in a deeper role in midfield. Scott Arfield has been influential in midfield, and he is expected to start again. New signing Ianis Hagi has already become a fan favourite, and he is likely to complete the midfield three for the Bears.
Attack
Ryan Kent has shown glimpses of what he can do, and the former Liverpool man would be hoping to bring more consistency to his game. He is expected to begin from the left flank. Joe Aribo will start on the right-wing, but he will play more as a right-sided attacking midfielder. Alfredo Morelos got his first goal after the winter break against Hamilton. The Colombian is set to lead the line.
