Chelsea travelled to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City and both of them played out a pulsating game which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Leicester started the first half slowly, and Chelsea dominated proceedings in the first 20 minutes. However, the home team fought back, and it became an eye-catching encounter. Vardy had the clearest chance in the first 45, but he was denied smartly by Caballero.
Rudiger scored right after half time from a corner. Harvey Barnes got the equaliser in the 54th minute as his deflected shot went in from the left flank. The see-saw nature of the game continued and Chilwell found the back of the net in the 54th minute to give the lead to Leicester. However, Rudiger equalised through a set-piece as he bagged a brace. Evans and Barnes had the best chance to wrap the full points, but they missed their mark.
Leicester City Players Rated In Their Pulsating Draw Vs Chelsea
Kasper Schmeichel 6
Maybe could have done better for the second goal as a slightly looping header from Rudiger beat him. Apart from that, did his job and wasn’t called into action much.
Ricardo Pereira 6.5
Had a battling game at right-back and showed a lot of endeavour. Nothing too eye-catching but put in a good shift.
Jonny Evans 7.5
Was rock-solid in defence and his reading of the game was often brilliant. Made crucial clearances and interceptions. Had a great chance to win the game in the second half but he headed wide. Nevertheless, a top overall display and the reason why Chelsea didn’t score in the first half.
Caglar Soyuncu 6.5
Had some poor touches and looked shaky on occasions. Grew as the game went on and looked solid.
Ben Chilwell 6
Took his goal well with his right foot to give Leicester a lead. His crossing wasn’t the best, and he overhit some. Reece James troubled him in the first half and could have done better to close the Chelsea youngster down.
Hamza Choudhury 6.5
Had a tough first half-hour, and it seemed like he was all over the place. Improved as the game went on and was a presence in midfield. Pressed well.
Harvey Barnes 7
Had one good chance but he skied his shot in the first half. Then scored in the second half with a deflected shot after a good run from left. Guilty of not scoring the match-winner after Vardy found him brilliantly with a pass. Was direct in his approach and troubled the Chelsea defence.
Youri Tielemans 6.5
Found it hard to get into the game initially as the match was frantic. Got better as the game went on and linked up play well. Tested Caballero once with a long-range attempt.
James Maddison 6
Had to do a lot of defending early on. Wasn’t at his influential best. Nothing too fancy, but did alright.
Ayoze Perez 6
Showed good determination and pressed well when the Foxes were hanging in the game in the first half. Linked up play well from time to time. Steady but unspectacular.
Jamie Vardy 6
Wasn’t able to get in the game much but had one good chance in the first half where he was denied by onrushing Caballero. Provided a brilliant pass to Barnes which should have won them the game. Not at his best but still threatening.
