West Ham United will face off against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night hoping to pull off a big upset in the Premier League. The Hammers are currently occupying the 18th spot in the league standings and are in danger of being relegated if they fail to pick up a few wins in the coming weeks. So David Moyes will be desperate to see his players succeed and might go in with a 3-5-2 formation for this midweek clash.
3-5-2 West Ham United Predicted Lineup Vs Manchester City
Defence
Łukasz Fabiański will operate in goal for the Hammers despite shipping in five goals in his past two starts in the Premier League. Moyes could be inclined to play three defenders at the back so we can expect to see Issa Diop line up alongside Angelo Ogbonna and Aaron Cresswell. All three centre-backs will have to be at their best if they are to restrict the Man City attackers from scoring in midweek.
The Hammers have allowed 43 goals in 25 league matches so far which has put them in the relegation zone. Moyes will need to find a way to resolve his side’s defensive issues if they are to stand a chance of securing a result versus the Citizens on the road.
Midfield
Declan Rice will anchor the midfield alongside Mark Noble and Tomáš Souček as they look to put in a hard-working performance at the centre of the park. Arthur Masuaku could get the nod to feature down the left flank while Ryan Fredericks will be responsible for coping with Raheem Sterling’s threat out on the wide areas.
The outcome of this game might be won and lost in midfield so the West Ham players will have to defend in numbers and be more productive on the counter. Felipe Anderson is a significant doubt for this game and is unlikely to recover in time, but we can expect to see Roberto Snodgrass and Pablo Fornals make up the numbers on Moyes’ bench.
Attack
Sebastien Haller will share the attacking workload with Michail Antonio up top. Both strikers will have to work hard in running the channels so that they can provide an outlet for their teammates on the break. Antonio’s pace could cause a few problems for the Man City defence that have been quite leaky in recent matches.
Xande Silva won’t feature in this game, but Albian Ajeti will be available for selection on the bench.
