Premier League giants Chelsea dropped further points in the league after managing only a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium this evening. The Blues opened the scoring through Marcos Alonso in the first half, but the scoreline was soon overturned by a couple of quick-fire Cherries goals in the second. The Spanish full-back Alonso is the man who stepped up again towards the end, grabbing the goal that would salvage a crucial point for the Blues.
Chelsea Players Rated In A Tight Draw Vs Bournemouth
Willy Caballero – 6
Should’ve probably gotten a firmer hand to the first Bournemouth goal, but couldn’t have done too much about the second one. Didn’t look overly comfortable dealing with set-pieces either.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 6.5
The Spaniard started the game as part of the back-three and tried to get forward whenever the opportunities opened up in the first half. Played some neat passes out to Reece James.
Andreas Christensen – 6.5
The big Danish centre-half put in a fairly dominant display in the middle of the park, apart from a couple of moments of blemish over the course of the ninety. Didn’t allow Callum Wilson any space.
Fikayo Tomori – 6
The youngster was brought into the team in place of Rudiger tonight and didn’t exactly catch up with the flow of things immediately. Came back stronger in the second half but not good enough.
Reece James – 7
The youngster bombarded down the right flank whenever the spaces opened up, and he tried to deliver quality into the box on every occasion. Played a special ball into Giroud for the Chelsea opener.
Jorginho – 5.5
The Italian struggled to impact the game as most of his passing was either sideways or backwards. Picked up his tenth yellow of the season, thereby earning a two-game ban.
Mateo Kovacic – 7.5
The Croatian was excellent in the middle of the park for Chelsea – picking up the ball from the defenders before playing some sharp and dangerous passes into the forward players.
Marcos Alonso – 8
The Spaniard has been out of favour at Stamford Bridge but has now scored in back to back league outings. Popped up in some good areas and picked up two vital goals.
Mason Mount – 6.5
The Englishman moved the ball around nicely in the first half and made some excellent forward runs too. Slowly fizzled out of the fixture in the second half though and looked off the pace.
Pedro – 5.5
The Spanish veteran had yet another poor outing against Bournemouth as he was unable to create anything meaningful in the final third. Picked up some good positions but failed to impact.
Olivier Giroud – 6
A good header on the lead up to the Chelsea opener, but needs to offer a lot more in the final third. Will surely be playing second fiddle to Tammy Abraham in the coming weeks.
Substitutes
Willian – 6
The Brazilian speedster didn’t make any impact on the fixture after coming on, despite making a couple of decent forward runs. Needs to show more dedication towards the cause.
Ross Barkley – 5.5
Wasted an excellent opportunity to win the tie late on and never really looked comfortable in possession either. Gave the ball away multiple times and didn’t look anywhere near up to the mark.
Michy Batshuayi – 5.5
Unfortunately had a goal chalked off for offside, but didn’t offer too much else in the late stages of the fixture.
