Rangers were back on track after their defeat against Hearts as they secured the crucial three points against Ross County to keep them five points off Celtic having played a game less. The Gers will now take on Aberdeen at Ibrox next. The Dons have been a significant thorn since Steven Gerrard took over the managerial reigns at the club.
Aberdeen had managed a 2-2 draw when the two teams met in December. Rangers threw away a two goal lead, and it was looking like they would cruise towards a win. The Dons will once again be no pushovers and Rangers will need to be at their best to gain all three points.
Team News: Jermain Defoe produced an impressive performance against Ross County, but that came at a cost, and he is going to miss out with an injury. Ryan Jack also remains an absentee. In defence, Rangers will again have to do without James Tavernier and Filip Helander.
4-3-3 Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Aberdeen
Formation (4-3-3)
Defence
Allan McGregor is likely to continue in goal for the Gers. Connor Goldson has been the mainstay at the back under Gerrard, and he will start in central defence. Nikola Katic is set to partner him at the back. Matt Polster put in a decent shift against Ross County, and he should be rewarded with another start at right-back. Borna Barisic has established himself at Rangers this season, and the Croatian ace will feature from the left side of the defence.
Midfield
Steven Davis has been a bit below par since the winter break, and he will need to pick his game up. He is expected to keep his place in midfield. Scott Arfield’s intelligent movement and ability to link up play stands out, and he should play in the middle again. Glen Kamara is expected to complete the midfield three for the Gers. Winning the midfield battle could be vital to getting a victory against the Dons as they will be expected to be aggressive.
Attack
Ryan Kent is yet to showcase his full potential, but he remains a significant threat. He should feature from the left-wing. Sheyi Ojo impressed against Ross County, but Joe Aribo could get the nod to start on the right flank in this encounter. Alfredo Morelos got a late run in the previous game, and he is likely to lead the line with Defoe being out with an injury.
