Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City side secured their progress into the fifth round of the FA Cup after a spirited display against Championship outfit Brentford. In a mostly dull affair at Griffin Park, the Foxes opened the scoring very early on through a good finish by Kelechi Iheanacho. Young full-back James Justin delivered an inch-perfect ball for the former Manchester City man to tuck home. Despite some late Bees pressure, Leicester were able to see out the victory.
Here are the Leicester City players rated in their win vs Brentford.
Danny Ward – 7
The former Liverpool shot-stopper wasn’t really called into action on too many occasions throughout the fixture but did make one decent save to deny Luka Racic in the latter stages.
James Justin – 7.5
The young full-back had an excellent first half against the Bees as he picked out the ball that led to the Leicester City goal. Was forced to work hard in defence in the second half but did it well.
Wes Morgan – 8
The veteran defender made an unbelievable comeback to the starting lineup as he completely dominated the Leicester box for the entire game, barring a couple of corners in the late stages.
Caglar Soyunçu – 7.5
The Turkish centre-half, like his partner, had a largely comfortable outing and wasn’t required to strain himself too much until late in the second half. Positioned himself well for attacking set-pieces.
Christian Fuchs – 7
The veteran full-back didn’t have a very productive afternoon in the second half because most of the Bees’ attacking intent was displayed down his end. Worked hard to see out the result.
Hamza Choudhury – 7
The youngster was responsible for linking up the defence and attack lines, and he did a good job for the most part. Played some neat passes out and ensured that the ball was kept ticking.
Dennis Praet – 7
The Belgian played in a couple of roles over the course of the fixture and did well to maintain possession at times. Moved the ball around well and picked up some dangerous positions too.
Demarai Gray – 6.5
The pacy trickster showcased his sheer quality on a couple of occasions during the tie, but never really managed to apply himself. Still, there is reason for Foxes’ fans to be excited about his development.
Ayoze Perez – 6.5
The attacker, who started in one of the slots in behind the main striker, was moved into the forward’s role in the second half. Wasn’t overly effective in the final third tonight though.
Marc Albrighton – 6
The Englishman was wasteful with the ball on occasion, and he certainly didn’t take advantage of the opportunity to play in an attacking position. Worked hard in the first half but slowly fizzled out.
Kelechi Iheanacho – 7
The striker had an excellent first-half, working the lines and pulling defenders out with his movement. Showed excellent composure and technique with the finish for what was the only goal of the match.
Substitutes
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 7
The youngster made his first-team debut tonight and made an excellent impression in the middle of the park. Moved the ball around well and looked confident in possession too.
James Maddison – NA
Didn’t have time to make an impact.
