German journalist Raphael Honigstein as cited by the Express has revealed that Bayern Munich have pulled out of the race to sign Timo Werner. The German striker has been in red hot form this season as he has bagged 23 goals and ten assists in all competitions already. With Bayern Munich now out of the race to sign him, the other chasing clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have been handed a boost to bring in the striker.
Leipzig currently leads the Bundesliga table, and Werner’s impressive form has played a massive role in that. The German forward is not going to depart in January, and any transfer involving him would only take place in the summer. Werner still has his contract with Leipzig until 2023.
Werner has long been linked with a move to Liverpool. Given Jurgen Klopp’s knowledge of German football, Werner has been on the radar of the Reds for quite some time now. Werner recently talked about his interest in the Premier League. He had said, ”There is a certain flair to watching the English league and playing there.”
