According to the reports from the Turkish media outlet Fotospor, Leeds United have been linked with a move for Turkish forward Emre Mor. The Celta Vigo forward is currently on loan with Galatasaray where he has failed to impress so far. Reports from Turkish football add that Celta Vigo are ready to allow Mor to leave permanently or on loan. It is believed that his loan spell would be cancelled by the Turkish giants this month.
The striker moved to the Spanish outfit from German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund. The Turkish forward struggled to establish himself for Celta, and he made just four starts in 2017-18 campaign. In the 2018-19 season, Mor was ignored for most parts, and he managed to play 367 minutes of football in the La Liga.
The 22-year-old was sent on loan this season, but it is fair to say that Galatasaray are unwilling to give him too many chances. Mor has had three starts and seven substitute appearances so far, and he is yet to score or assist.
Why could Mor end up being a misfit at Elland Road?
All the recent updates don’t augur well for the Whites as they are on the lookout for a backup striker to Patrick Bamford. Mor hasn’t played much football in the past few seasons, and it is hard to see him get up to speed in the Bielsa system, which demands a whole lot of commitment and physical effort.
Mor is a versatile attacker as he can play on the flanks or lead the line. He has a natural talent, flair, pace and dribbling skills to his game, but sometimes his effort leaves a lot to be desired. He is not known to have a good work rate, and he has been in the news for his ego and attitude problems in the past.
We don’t see Bielsa bringing in a player like him at Elland Road when his whole philosophy rests on working hard for the team. Mor might be able to create a moment of magic here and there and maybe as an impact substitute, he won’t be a bad option. However, he has hardly been in good form in the last few years.
Should Bielsa go for him?
Signing him would be a significant risk, but a loan move could be worth considering. We believe that the Whites can look for better alternatives and a player who would suit their profile. Mor might have an abundance of talent and ability, but he is yet to showcase it regularly at the top level.
