Premier League giants Chelsea picked up their first home league win since the start of December by dispatching Sean Dyche’s Burnley side by a 3-0 scoreline at Stamford Bridge. The Blues were the dominant force in this match right from the off, and although the Clarets had a few chances, the Blues never really looked to be under pressure. Goals from Jorginho, Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi tipped the tie in the Blues favour as Frank Lampard guided Chelsea five points clear of 5th place yet again.
Here are the Chelsea players rated in their win over Burnley.
Kepa Arizzabalaga – 7
Made a couple of vital stops in the first half, despite looking shaky while dealing with set-pieces. Wasn’t overly troubled in the second half, but did well to play out from the back.
Reece James – 9
The youngster had what was arguably his best-ever performance in a Chelsea shirt during the first half. The ball in for Abraham’s goal was nothing short of sensational.
Andreas Christensen – 7.5
The Danish centre-half did well maintaining his position and preserving the Blues’ lead. Made a couple of vital interceptions and communicated well with Kepa as well.
Antonio Rudiger – 7.5
The German was once again a force in the Chelsea defence. He commandeered the back-line efficiently and didn’t allow the dangerous Burnley attackers any space in the final third.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7.5
Delivered a peach of a cross to give Hudson-Odoi his first ever Premier League goal. Worked hard in defence and linked up exceptionally well with Willian down the Blues’ left flank.
Jorginho – 7.5
The Italian was at the centre of everything positive that the Blues produced tonight. Passed the ball around well and did well to convert from the spot and open the scoring as well.
Ross Barkley – 7.5
The Englishman midfielder was a late addition to the team sheet, owing to the injury picked up by N’Golo Kante during the warm-ups. Did well to move the ball around and deserves to keep his place.
Callum Hudson-Odoi – 8
The youngster had one of his most compelling performances in a Chelsea shirt, and he linked up superbly with Reece James down the flank. Timed his run well for the goal as well.
Mason Mount – 7
The Englishman, when compared to the rest of the team, had a fairly average game in the middle of the park. Nothing seemed to come off on the night for the budding attacking-midfielder.
Willian – 7.5
Moved the ball quickly and didn’t offer the Burnley defenders a moment of reprieve thanks to his powerful running. Tried hard to make things happen in the final third and won the Blues’ penalty.
Tammy Abraham – 8
The striker was a consent nuisance to the Burnley back-line, as he was seen imposing himself physically. Did well to take his goal and probably should’ve had another one as well.
