According to a recent report by Tuttomercato (translated by The Daily Star), Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has held informal discussions with Napoli midfielder Allan over a potential move in the summer. It is unlikely that the Magpies will be able to land him in January as the player is currently weighing up his options, but any move away from Naples will probably take place at the end of this campaign (via Tuttomercato).
Allan’s Incredible Career At Napoli
Since making a switch from Udinese in the summer of 2015, the Brazilian talent has been a regular feature at the heart of the Napoli midfield. He has scored ten goals and provided 16 assists in 199 matches for the Italian outfit thus far.
Allan has endured a difficult season at the San Paolo Stadium this term after missing several matches due to multiple injuries. The 29-year-old has featured in 20 games for the Serie A outfit this term, scoring one goal while grabbing one assist in all competitions. He has averaged 3.1 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 0.7 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the Italian top-flight (stats via whoscored).
The Rio de Janeiro-born talent has also secured eight senior caps for the Brazilian national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his country.
What Will The Brazilian Playmaker Add To Ancelotti’s Side?
Allan is a well-rounded midfielder as he can do a bit of everything at the centre of the park. He primarily operates as a holding midfielder but can also assume a box to box role if needed. The South American sensation excels at dribbling with the ball and running at the opposition defenders. He is a commanding presence in midfield and can works his socks off for the benefit of his side.
The Brazilian enforcer can also make some vital interceptions and last-gasp clearances for his team which makes him a complete midfielder. It could be a massive coup for the Toffees if they can find a way to bring Allan to Merseyside next summer. He will not only add a lot of quality to Ancelotti’s midfield but will also help instil a winning mentality in the dressing room.
Hence, the Merseyside club should consider orchestrating a move for the Napoli playmaker as he will bolster their midfield options significantly at Goodison Park.
