West Ham United will be hoping to give David Moyes his second home win in charge of the Hammers when they welcome Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton side to the London Stadium on the weekend. The former Everton manager got his West Ham United stint off to the perfect start against Bournemouth a couple of weeks ago, but a lot has gone on at the club since that victory.
The Hammers picked up a highly inspiring 4-0 win against Eddie Howe’s Cherries and then backed that up by securing progress into the next round of the FA Cup after a decent performance against lowly Gillingham. In his first league away game in charge though, things didn’t go quite as well as David Moyes might’ve planned.
The Irons fell to a gutting 1-0 victory, in a fixture where they barely created any meaningful chances going forward. The new gaffer will be eager to show the West Ham fans that he’s the right man for the job and immediately put any concerns about his takeover to rest.
Team News
Two of the biggest injuries that West Ham have had to deal with in recent weeks were picked up by English stars Jack Wilshere and Ryan Fredricks. While the former was only used sparingly, the latter was a regular in the first-team and is sure to be a huge blow to their ambitions. Lukasz Fabianski is another who is set to miss out while Andriy Yarmolenko is still a couple of weeks away from a return.
3-4-2-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup Vs Everton
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Defence
In the untimely absence of first-choice shot-stopper Lukasz Fabianski, 33-year-old Englishman David Martin is set to return to the side, after making his debut against Chelsea earlier in the season. In front of him, we expect to see prodigious young defender Issa Diop returning to the side, with Angelo Ogbonna and Aaron Cresswell continuing alongside him at the heart of the defence.
Midfield
English youngster Declan Rice will be tasked with the role of linking up the defence with the midfield, while veteran star Mark Noble will be responsible for bringing the more attack-minded players in the West Ham team into the game. On the right flank, former Manchester City star Pablo Zabaleta should operate as a full-back, while tricky winger Arthur Masuaku could take up the left-sided role.
Attack
Pablo Fornals could return to the starting lineup in place of Manuel Lanzini for this fixture, with Brazilian star Felipe Anderson expected to continue alongside him supporting the main striker. Sebastian Haller is set to continue as the target man for the Hammers, and he’ll surely be hoping to get back his scoring touch in the coming weeks.
