Celtic have recently been linked (Daily Mail) with a move for Zimbabwean forward Tino Kadewere. The striker currently plies his trade in the Ligue 2 for Le Havre. Kadewere has been in impressive form this season as he has 17 goals and four assists to his name already. English clubs like Bournemouth and Southampton are also said to be in the mix to sign him.
Kadewere talks about his future
The 24-year-old recently talked about transfer speculations and indicated that he is committed towards Le Havre. However, he didn’t completely rule out a move this month as well. Kadewere recently said (Daily Record), ”I’m a player for this team, and first of all, I’m focusing on the next three matches.”
“Anything is possible, if the club gets a nice offer then I’ll reflect. But let’s be clear: I have huge respect for Le Havre. I think it would be difficult for everyone, me first and foremost because I feel at home here now. I love this club; I speak French, so leaving now would mean starting all over again in the middle of the season.”
No club likes to sell their crucial player midway through the season, and Le Havre would have the same approach with Kadewere. Reports mention that Celtic will have to shell out £10m to land him in this window. The 24-year-old is the main man for his side right now, and it is understandable why the Ligue 2 outfit would demand such a high price.
What now for Lennon?
Celtic will, therefore, have to break their transfer record to bring in Kadewere this month. The club needs to add firepower up front as Lennon is thin on options beyond Odsonne Edouard. The likes of Leigh Griffiths and Vakoun Issouf Bayo have failed to contribute much, and the scoring burden is heavily on Edouard.
Kadewere is known for his acceleration and a quick burst of speed. He is also a very committed player as he likes to chase down every lost cause. The Harare born ace also showcases decent skills on the ball, which allows him to go past players. However, the striker doesn’t have much experience of playing at a higher level and paying £10m could feel like a gamble for Celtic.
We believe that Kadewere would be a decent addition, but for that price tag, Celtic would want to have someone who would hit the ground running straight away and someone who has proven himself in a tougher league. Hence, we think that a move in January could be unlikely for Kadewere until Le Havre decides to bring down his asking price.
