Liverpool will travel to the Red Bull Arena to face off against RB Salzburg in their final group game of this UEFA Champions League campaign. The Reds need to avoid defeat if they want to seal qualification into the knockout stages of the competition. Jurgen Klopp will also be aware that his players can win the group if they emerge victorious in Austria.
The European champions will opt for a 4-3-3 formation with Georginio Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane expected to be named in the Liverpool first-team.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face RB Salzburg
Defence
Alisson Becker will start in goal for the visitors after keeping a long-awaited clean sheet against Bournemouth last weekend. Dejan Lovren is a slight doubt for this game, but he should be healthy enough to start alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of the Liverpool backline. The centre-half duo has formed a formidable partnership at the back, but they will have their hands full while up against one of the most prolific and in-demand strikers in Europe, Erling Braut Håland.
Joe Gomez will be on standby just in case Lovren fails to recover in time for this clash away at Austria.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will assume his creative duties from the right-back position while Andrew Robertson focusses on putting in another tireless shift as the left-back. We can expect both full-backs to spend a lot of time in the Salzburg half so that they can orchestrate enough openings for the front players.
Midfield
The Reds might lineup with a hard-working midfield three of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum. Henderson will likely play in the number six role in the absence of Fabinho who is still sidelined with an injury. Both Milner and Wijanldum will operate as the box to box midfielders and will look to press the opposition high up the pitch.
The talented trio will need to figure out a way to dominate the game in the centre of the park so that they can frustrate the Austrian champions into making mistakes at the back. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita will have to settle for a place on the bench but might get a chance to make an impact if required.
Attack
The Merseyside club will revert to playing their strongest front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. Mane and Salah have been the difference-makers for Liverpool since the turn of the month. Both of them will be hungry to get their names on the scoresheet versus Jesse Marsch’s team in midweek.
Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri will be available on the Reds bench despite their match-winning heroics against Everton last week.
