Barcelona have already booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League. They will travel to Italy next to take on Inter Milan who will be looking to join Barcelona in the next round. Inter Milan and Dortmund have seven points each, but Milan will go through on head to head results if the two teams finish on similar points. Hence, Dortmund would need a favour from the Spanish giants.
The Catalan outfit registered a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture, but Inter had troubled them with their swift counter-attacking game. Barcelona are on a six game-winning run, and they are coming in this game on the back of a 5-2 win against Mallorca where Messi grabbed a hattrick. Barcelona also have an impressive track record against Inter Milan as they have lost just once in their last nine meetings in Europe.
Team News: Ousmane Dembele, Jordi Alba and Nelson Semedo are going to be unavailable. Young sensation Ansu Fati is significant doubt, and so is Brazilian midfielder, Arthur Melo. It would be interesting to see what kind of team Valverde will put out with Barcelona already ensured the top spot.
Barcelona Predicted Lineup Vs Inter Milan
Formation (4-3-3)
Defence
Marc-André ter Stegen will continue in goal for the Blaugrana. Clement Lenglet could carry on in the centre back role. Samuel Umtiti could be given a go in the team in place of Gerard Pique. The Frenchman should start at the back. Junior Firpo will likely occupy the left-back position. Versatile midfielder Sergi Roberto is expected to feature on the right with Semedo being a significant doubt.
Midfield
Summer signing Frenkie De Jong has settled in well at the club, and he could occupy the defensive midfield position. Arturo Vidal is also likely to get a start with Arthur being out. The other midfield spot could go to Ivan Rakitic. Sergio Busquets might be rested as he played the full 90 minutes against Mallorca.
Attack
21-year-old Carles Perez might get the chance to feature on the left flank with Dembele and Fati being out. Fresh from his hattrick, Valverde should play Lionel Messi even though the tie is a dead rubber for them. The Argentine star he should feature from the right. Luis Suarez has had injury issues in the recent past, and he can be given a breather in this clash. Antoine Griezmann might get the nod to lead the line.
