Tottenham Hotspur destroyed Sean Dyche’s high-flying Burnley side 5-0 on the night, on the back of a truly spectacular display by the Spurs stars. Not only did Jose Mourinho’s men step up to the plate when it mattered, they even threw light on the difference in quality between the two sides. Goals from Harry Kane, Lucas Moura, Heung Min-Son and Moussa Sissoko were the difference between the sides as Spurs put up a dominant performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Here Are The Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings:
Paulo Gazzaniga – 6
The Spurs shot-stopper did a decent job at the back to ensure that his team kept the much-deserved clean sheet, but didn’t have all that much to deal with to be fair.
Serge Aurier – 6.5
The full-back underwent a massive amount of work over the course of the tie, but couldn’t have too much impact going forward. He was subbed off in the second half.
Toby Alderweireld – 7
The Belgian was his usual composed self at the centre of defence and succeeded in ensuring that the Clarets had no luck in an attacking sense. Marked his man industriously as well.
Davinson Sanchez – 7.5
The big centre-half made an absolutely vital goal-line clearance off a Chris Wood shot in the first half and did well at keeping the Clarets at bay for most of the tie.
Jan Vertonghen – 7.5
The Belgian was operating out of an extremely flexible role at left-back, often seen popping up at defensive midfield, and even at the heart of the defence. Was a massive presence in the box.
Eric Dier – 7.5
The Englishman has shown signs of getting back to his best in the last couple of weeks and backed it up with a decent performance again tonight. Had a horror moment in the first half though.
Moussa Sissoko – 8
The midfielder was unlucky not to register twice on the night after he was played in by Son early on. Did well to get his goal, and showed great composure in midfield.
Dele Alli – 7
The Englishman was probably the worst of the Tottenham attackers on the night – a statement that shows just how well they played. Despite getting an assist, he didn’t have his usual impact.
Son Heung-Min – 9.5
The South Korean sensation was at the top of his game on the night as he ripped the Clarets to shreds at will. Scored a belter of a goal that should be considered for the goal of the season.
Lucas Moura – 8
The speedster popped up at the right place at the right time to grab his goal in the first half and did well maintaining possession in the latter stages of the game as well.
Harry Kane – 9
The striker was on fire against Sean Dyche’s men as he opened the scoring with an absolute screamer in the first half. Kept pushing and got himself a second on the night as well.
