Premier League champions Manchester City churned out a comfortable victory at Turn Moor against a miserly Burnley side on Tuesday night. The match ended 4-1 with goals from Rodri, Riyadh Mahrez and two from Gabriel Jesus. Although Robbie Brady got the Clarets a consolation goal late on, it certainly wouldn’t have made Sean Dyche feel any better. Overall, the Citizens weren’t troubled enough by the Clarets throughout the ninety minutes, and Pep Guardiola’s men managed to see out what was indeed a comfortable victory.
Here Are The Manchester City Player Ratings:
Ederson – 7
The City shot-stopper didn’t have all that much to do over the course of the game, but was robbed off a clean sheet due to one unfortunate moment. He distributed the ball quite efficiently.
Kyle Walker – 6
The full-back wasn’t at his best in the first half as he played a couple of stinkers into the box. Came back better in the second half but failed to create too many chances down the flank.
Nicolas Otamendi – 6.5
Although there were slight signs of nervousness from the Argentine in the first half, he came back well and maintained his temperament. He was quite dominant in the air from set-pieces as well.
Fernandinho – 6.5
Chris Wood gave the little Brazilian a proper run-around in the first half, but he turned things around superbly. Played the ball out from the back with excellent finesse and composure.
Angeliño – 7
The left full-back had a much better game than his opposite number, even coming close with a shot from distance. He’s showing signs of maturity but certainly isn’t the complete package just yet.
Rodri – 8.5
The summer signing dominated the game in the middle of the park with his defensive dynamism and tactical positioning. Played some excellent passes to open up the Burnley defence as well.
David Silva – 7.5
The Spaniard was at his best tonight, despite the Clarets’ attempts to intercept his threaded passes. Got himself an assist and orchestrated the tempo of the game from the heart of midfield.
Kevin De Bruyne – 7
Played in a slightly deeper role than usual and didn’t get into the box on too many occasions. Had a couple of neat shots at goal but didn’t really do much to trouble the keeper. Linked up play well.
Bernardo Silva – 7.5
The Portuguese trickster left two Burnley defenders on the ground before laying a cross in – a move that highlighted just how superior the Citizens were to the Clarets. He picked up two assists as well.
Raheem Sterling – 7
The speedster wasn’t allowed running room in the final third because of Burnley’s deep defensive line. He linked up superbly with Jesus in the second half and helped his team move forward.
Gabriel Jesus – 8
Scored an absolute peach out of nowhere to open the scoring and then popped up again when he was required to during the game. Held the ball up well and tried his best to bring his teammates into the game.
