Liverpool Join Race With Man City & Others To Sign Serie A Youngster: Is He A Star In The Making?

According to a recent report by FC Inter News, Liverpool have joined the chase to acquire the services of Inter Milan starlet Sebastiano Esposito. The same source has revealed that the Reds are set to compete with Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund in pursuit of the Italian striker.

Esposito’s Break Out Year In The Italian Top-Flight

Esposito began his playing career at Brescia before joining the San Siro outfit at an early age. He came through the youth ranks of Inter and has successfully managed to get some first-team experience under his belt under Antonio Conte’s tutelage this season.

The 17-year-old has made six appearances for the Italian giants this term but is yet to find the back of the net. The Italian prospect has averaged 1.3 shots and 0.3 key passes per game in the three matches he has played for Inter in the Serie A (stats via whoscored).

Esposito has also represented Italy at various youth levels and has managed to be a prolific goal-scorer for his country at every rank. However, he is still quite far off from earning a senior cap for his homeland.

What Are The Italian Whizkid’s Best Traits?

Esposito is a gifted dribbler with the ball as he showcases excellent close control and is a very tricky man to dispossess when isolated in a 1v1 situation with the opposition. He is versatile enough to feature on either flank but primarily operates as a centre-forward up top.

What makes the Italian such an exceptional young talent is his ability to score goals consistently on the field. Now the biggest step for him would be to establish himself as a regular starter in Conte’s first-team which will be easier said than done because Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are currently the guaranteed starters at the San Siro.

Is Esposito A Star In The Making?

Hence, Esposito could benefit from a change of scenery if he intends to get more minutes at the highest level. He might fancy a move to Liverpool and be nurtured by a top manager like Jurgen Klopp. The European champions have still not replaced Bobby Duncan who abruptly left the Merseyside club to join Fiorentina last summer.

So Klopp should undoubtedly look to recruit Esposito in the coming years. Just like Duncan, he has the potential to be a world-class striker someday. There is no denying that the Italian teenager is a prospect to look out for in the future as long as he can continue improving his game with each season.
