According to a recent report by the Brazilian news outlet Netflu, Liverpool are keeping tabs on the progress of the young Fluminese forward Evanilson. The same source has also revealed that the Reds have held discussions with the player’s representatives over a potential transfer this winter.
The Fluminese attacker’s current contract runs out in February 2020, so it is understood that the Brazilian club might be willing to do business if they receive an offer of around £4m. Otherwise, the South American giants run the risk of losing their prized asset for nothing next year (via Netflu).
Evanilson’s Majestic Rise In Brazilian Football
The South American starlet was the top scorer in Brazil’s under-20 league and also went on to play for the Slovak outfit Samorin on loan where he found the back of the net three times in six matches. Evanilson’s stellar goal-scoring form has now caught the eyes of the Liverpool chiefs so the young striker could be in for a career-defining switch to Anfield.
The Fortaleza-born talent has also managed to make two substitute appearances for Marco Oliveira’s side this term playing a total of 20 minutes in the Brazilian Serie A thus far. He is highly rated in South America after coming through the youth ranks of Fluminese. However, the jury is still out on whether he has what it takes to succeed in a different continent.
Will The Fluminese Starlet Be A Good Fit For The Reds?
There is no denying that Evanilson is still quite raw and would need time to adapt to the Premier League if the Reds are successful in their pursuit of the Brazilian frontman. The talented teenager has been a prolific goal-getter at various youth levels in Brazilian football. Therefore, he could prove to be a brilliant addition to Neil Critchley’s Under-23 squad at Liverpool.
Klopp has hinted that Rhian Brewster might be allowed to leave on loan when the transfer window reopens in January (via Goal). The young English marksman needs to switch clubs if he wants to earn more first-team opportunities in English football. Therefore, recruiting Evanilson could fill the void left by the potential departure of Brewster.
The successful start of Gabriel Martinelli at Arsenal goes to show that the young players from Brazil could make an impact in English football if they are good enough. Therefore, Evanilson might turn out to be a decent fit for the European champions as he has the ceiling to become a world-class centre-forward someday.
