Casilla With 4, Bamford Gets 8.5 | Leeds United Players Rated In Frustrating Draw Vs Cardiff City

Leeds United’s seven game-winning run came to an abrupt end against Cardiff City after it seemed like they were hurtling towards their 8th win. The Whites threw away a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 in the end.

The game had a frantic start, and the Bluebirds were on the offensive when the Whites scored early from a brilliant counter-attack where Hernandez found Costa with a cross-field pass. The summer arrival slotted the ball calmly in goal. Bamford then scored another two minutes later as he brought the ball down well and finished with aplomb.

United were in dreamland right after half time as Bamford got his brace in the 52nd minute after he converted from the spot. However, the real drama was yet to come, and Kiko Casilla was at fault for Cardiff’s first goal. Morrison then scored the second in the 82nd minute to make it 3-2. The scorer was then shown the red card soon as he brought down Nketiah. Cardiff kept going at it, and they found the equaliser in the 88th minute. The Whites just found a new way to collapse when they were cruising.

Here is how United fared.

Kiko Casilla 4

His recent performances were impeccable, but with the Spaniard, a rush of blood isn’t too far away. Came off his line for a ball and failed to get enough distance on it and that allowed the Bluebirds to come back. Could have done better for the other goals as well.

Luke Ayling 6

Was at ease for most parts of the game except for the last quarter. Had some half chances to score which he missed. Did alright but could have been better.

Ben White 5.5

Was troubled on the aerial front on a few occasions. Looked shaky in the end and could have probably done better for the late Cardiff goals.

Gaetano Berardi 6.5

Had a decent game overall and was strong and committed in his duels. Didn’t have to deal with too many dangers from his side.

Stuart Dallas 6

Did well on the attacking front and always looked comfortable on the ball. However, he could have positioned himself better in the later phases of the game while defending.

Kalvin Phillips 7

Controlled the game well in the middle and protected the back four. Won a fair bit of 50-50 duels.

Mateusz Klich 7

Came close to scoring with a brilliant effort. Did a fine job in linking up the play and played with his usual energy and commitment.

Pablo Hernandez 8

Played a brilliant through ball to Costa for the first goal. Orchestrated the game in the attacking third and was involved in creating quite a few chances.

Helder Costa 7.5

Scored with a composed finish after Hernandez found him with a terrific pass. Made a few good runs and kept the defenders occupied. Certainly has shown improvement.

Jack Harrison 7

Worked his socks off like always and took defenders on from the left. Always on the move and stretching play. Could have been better when he squeezed in the box but a decent display overall.

Patrick Bamford 8.5

Was a handful for Cardiff defence as he kept them busy with his intelligent movements and runs. Took his first goal well and then scored from the spot. Held up play well. Probably a mistake to bring him off as he was able to hold up play which Leeds desperately needed in the last 10 minutes.

Eddie Nketiah 5

Looked energetic but never really got a chance in front of goal.

Pascal Struijk N/A

Didn’t play enough to warrant a rating.

Ezgjan Alioksi N/A

Didn’t play enough to warrant a rating.
